The Business Forward Foundation is an independent research and education organization that takes a business-minded look at policy issues affecting America’s economic competitiveness. Our work combines insights and advice from tens of thousands of business leaders across the country with rigorous policy analysis. Through white papers, issue briefs, conference calls, and other events, we educate policy makers and the public about climate change, immigration reform, infrastructure investment, the future of work, and other critical issues.
Business leaders deal with our crumbling infrastructure, incoherent tax and trade laws, outdated schools, and rising health care costs every day. Their experience should inform every decision the next President makes.
But it’s hard for small business owners, entrepreneurs, investors, and executives to provide meaningful, real world recommendations to Presidential candidates. A crowded Democratic primary field – and a likely Republican challenge to President Trump – will make it harder. The answer? Help business leaders brief multiple candidates, not just one.
We cannot wait for our major Parties to nominate their respective candidates. We need to recommend workable solutions throughout the process, reaching as many candidates as possible, offering as much detail as possible, and involving as many local leaders as possible.
We must also share these recommendations with Congress, the media, local business groups, and the general public.
Business Forward starts with a nationwide network of civic-minded, results-oriented leaders and a proven model for collecting and promoting their recommendations. It is a simple, scalable, and ambitious response to what may be the most crowded and contentious campaign of our lifetimes.
