For 25 years, Jim Doyle has advised leading corporations, financial service firms, venture capitalists, and non-profits on a range of policy, regulatory, and communications issues. In addition to his work at Business Forward, Jim serves as president of Portico Policy Advisors, a policy research firm. Jim’s managed research projects on clean energy, climate change, trade practices, technology in schools, college affordability, children’s nutrition, and online privacy. Prior to founding Portico, Jim helped build and sell two businesses. He also served as senior policy advisor and deputy chief of staff to Commerce Secretary William Daley, where he focused on technology and economic policy, and on the communications team of Clinton/Gore 1996. Prior to joining the Clinton Administration, Doyle practiced law with Hogan Lovells US LLP. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Harvard Law School. He lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife and two children.
Liz Fairchild serves as Business Forward’s Operations Director. Prior to joining Business Forward, Liz served as Program Analyst for a boutique defense contractor, providing support to the development and implementation of programs through analysis of strategic plans and improved initiatives. Previously, Liz has worked for The Aspen Institute’s Communications and Society Program and for the New York City based video production company Animoto Productions. She holds a BA in Latin American, Latino and Caribbean Studies with a concentration in Immigration and Hispanic Studies from Dartmouth College.
Policy and Communications Director
Elizabeth Kerr leads Business Forward’s communications and policy team and is working to expand the organization’s outreach to Congress. She most recently served as the Communications Director for Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4). Prior to that, Elizabeth was the Communications Director for the Michigan Democratic Party in 2008, served as the Deputy Communications Director for the Michigan Senate Democratic Caucus, and worked on various campaigns throughout the country. She began her career as a health policy analyst.
Lexie Briggs is the Digital Director at Business Forward where she helps tens of thousands of small business owners, executives, entrepreneurs, and investors brief Washington on how to create jobs and accelerate the economy. Before joining Business Forward, Lexie worked in clean energy communications and advocacy, most recently as Senior Social Media Manager for Advanced Energy Economy, an organization of businesses using policy advocacy, analysis, and education to bring about a prosperous economy based on secure, clean, affordable energy. She also serves on the board of DCLX, a local jazz dance nonprofit.
