Global brands like Mondelez (MDLZ), the maker of Oreos and Nabisco, and US-based companies like pharmaceutical company Merck and law firm DLA Piper have reported a cyber attack on their IT systems. While many companies are now assessing the damage, ABC News reports that a Pennsylvania health network that is still unable to offer lab and diagnostic services at 14 community and neighborhood offices for a second straight day. 

As the attack is spreading to businesses throughout Europe and the United States, we thought you would appreciate some resources to protect your company, and, if your systems are breached, what to do. 

CNN Money has an excellent article about what we know about the attack, who has been hit so far, and tips on how to prepare for it.

The article notes that computers with out-of-date Windows operating systems are vulnerable to the attack. If you have Windows, make sure you have the most recent update installed. If there’s even one out-of-date machine on a company’s network, it could infect other connected computers.
