Business leaders gathered at TechTown Detroit, to lend their advice to senior officials at the U.S. Patent and Trade Office. They discussed issues such as U.S. patent protections abroad, how USPTO could be more effective both internationally and domestically, and the best ways for small and medium enterprises to work with USPTO to ensure that U.S. companies remain competitive in the world marketplace.

The event coincided with the fifth anniversary of the opening of USPTO’s Midwest Regional Office. The office provides free outreach services for inventors, entrepreneurs, startups, researchers in the Midwest region including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin.
